TriMet: Progress made on MAX line restoration after ice storm

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Although many parts of Portland are still dealing with icy conditions into Saturday morning, TriMet announced that most of their buses will not need to use chains and the MAX Yellow Line service has been fully restored.

However, the bus lines still using chains will have their speed limited to 25 miles per hour. Detours around certain problem areas will also cause delays.

Around 8 a.m., TriMet also announced that a portion of the MAX Orange Line has been restored through Downtown Portland between Union Station and PSU. But on the remaining Orange Line, limited shuttle bus service will run between Lincoln Street/Southwest 3rd Avenue and Southeast Park Avenue.

Only the MAX Green and Red lines continue to be suspended. Max Blue line remains partially running.

TriMet is continuing to encourage Portlanders to delay travel when possible. But if it is necessary, they recommend dressing warmly, making sure your phone is charged and using caution getting to and from stops.

In the meantime, crews are continuing their work to clear the MAX lines of snow while also dealing with more precipitation, freezing and power outages which are slowing them down, particularly on Portland’s east side.

TriMet also took time to thank their crews for all of their hard work during this week.
