Trinity Catholic's Cedric McFadden tops Ocala runners in Bobcat Classic cross country meet

Buchholz High School hosted the Bobcat Classic Invitational on Saturday at Santa Fe College.

For Cedric McFadden, it was his second trip to Gainesville in three days. He played on Thursday night with the Trinity Catholic football against host Gainesville High on a rainy night.

He took sloppy conditions all in stride again Saturday morning and finished eighth at the cross country meet in a time of 17:36.1, a new seasonal best.

“I felt amazing. There was a lot of pushing and it was really hard, but that’s no excuse,” said McFadden, who plays wide receiver and caught a touchdown pass in Thursday night’s 48-3 victory against GHS at Citizens Field. “I love the competition in these big meets. There’s always someone there to help me push myself. It really benefits me because I'm not the upper dog and can cruise. I have to work to get my place.”

West Port senior Mia White was the top Ocala runner in the girls race. She finished 16th in a time of 21:33.2.
