Apr. 14—Pitt women's basketball coach Lance White expects to get a boost next season from 6-foot-3 Youngstown State graduate transfer Mary Dunn, who signed her letter of intent with the Panthers on Wednesday.

Dunn, a graduate of Trinity High School, appeared in 114 games (65 starts) for YSU over the past five seasons, totaling 1,299 points, 540 rebounds, 91 blocks and 75 assists while shooting 53.2% from the floor. Dunn, who averaged 16 points and 5.9 rebounds last season while earning All-Horizon League second-team honors, has one year of eligibility remaining.

"The addition of Mary Dunn to our team is going to be impactful on a number of levels," White said in a statement. "She is going to bring veteran experience to our young roster both on the court and as a leader off the court. This type of experience is priceless. Aside from her skill set, she has the intangibles and a natural desire to teach that is rare."

Dunn is a three-time member of the Horizon League All-Academic Team and was selected as one of four underclassmen to the Google Cloud Third Team Academic All-America Team after the 2018-19 season. She earned her bachelor's degree last year with a double major in communications and sociology and a 4.0 grade-point average.

Dunn will be entering her sixth season as a collegian. She was the Horizon Freshman of the Year in 2016-17.
