Trio arrested for child endangerment in Victorville

Three people were arrested on suspicion of child endangerment and two children were placed into protective custody after deputies served a warrant at a Victorville home amid an investigation into illegal cannabis sales, authorities said.

Deputies armed with a warrant showed up at the home in the 15500 block of Second Street just after 2 p.m. Tuesday, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.

"During service of the warrant, investigators located suspected methamphetamine, paraphernalia, marijuana, seven marijuana smoking devices and a large amount of US currency within the residence, in locations easily accessible to the children," Victor Valley Sheriff's Station spokeswoman Staci Parks said in a written statement.

"Investigators determined the residence to be unsafe for children due to hazardous living conditions," she said.

The children, ages 9 and 10 years old, were turned over to the custody of Child and Family Services, Parks added.

Marven Rivera, 20, Sara Molina, 44, and Jenaro Diaz, 29, all of Victorville, were arrested on suspicion of child endangerment, officials said.

Rivera was additionally accused of possession of cannabis for sales, and Diaz was accused of violating probation stemming from a prior conviction, Parks said.

According to county booking records, Diaz was released from custody pending legal proceedings after posting bail early Wednesday.

Bail for Molina was set at $75,000, while Diaz was being held without bail. The two in-custody suspects were scheduled for appearances in San Bernardino County Superior Court on Friday.

While adult possession of cannabis in California is legal, unlicensed sales remain a crime under state law.
