Trio Of New Captain America: Civil War Clips Remind Us Whose Film This Is

Forget what you’ve heard about ‘Captain America: Civil War’ being ‘Avengers 2.5′, Disney has released 3 new clips to remind us that the real star of Marvel’s superhero showdown is the film’s title hero himself, Captain America.

Chris Evan’s star-spangled super soldier is front and centre of all three clips, each one highlighting a different facet of the character that serve to remind us why he’s one of the most compelling characters in the MCU.

Captain America - The moral centre of the Avengers

In this clip, entitled “Right To Choose” (which also features Paul Bettany’s Vision sporting some rather natty knitwear) the cracks are beginning to show in the Avengers.

Steve Rogers doesn’t want to surrender control of the superhero team over to the bureaucrats “with agendas” by signing the UN’s Sokovia Accords while former weapons manufacturer Tony Stark sees the need for accountability. It’s this crack that will eventually see the Avengers torn in half.

Captain America: The tactical boss

In case that last clip was a bit too talky for you, this second excerpt reminds us exactly why Captain America is the operational leader of the Avengers.

Teaming up with his old ‘Winter Soldier’ pal Falcon (Anthony Mackie) and new recruit Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), Cap leaps into action as they track down Crossbones (Frank Grillo). He can’t fly, use magic, or shoot laser bolts from his hands, but he’s a super soldier, and he’s a master tactician with a right hook that could punch you into next week.

Captain America: The symbol

This last clip which debuted on Jimmy Kimmel earlier this week sees Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man getting introduced to Team Cap.

He’s starstruck by Captain America, the mythical hero who took on Hitler, Hydra, and all the other bad guys in between. Choosing a side between him and Iron Man must be a tricky decision for all of Earth’s mightiest heroes to make.

‘Captain America: Civil War’ is coming to cinemas on 29 April.
