Red Sox first baseman Triston Casas was named the American League’s Rookie of the Month for July after slashing a line .of 348/.442/.758 with a 1.199 OPS. The 23-year-old infielder’s seven home runs in the month led all rookies. He also became the first rookie to ever hit two home runs off three-time Cy Young winner Max Scherzer in the same game during a July 25 matchup against the Mets.

Casas is the 10th Red Sox to ever take home the award and the first since Bobby Dalbec won it in August 2021.

The New York Mets catcher Fransisco Alvarez took home the NL Rookie of the Month award.
