Trojan swimmers drop close one at South Haven
The Sturgis swim and dive team dropped a close one at South Haven on Tuesday, 99-84.
Despite defeat, the Trojans won four races on the evening.
Kaylee Draper claimed first place in the 100 butterfly, she swam a time of 1:04.42.
Emma Garbine swam to first place in the 200 freestyle race at 2:15.01. Sturgis also got a win from Kenzy Triezenberg in the 100 breaststroke at 1:20.29.
Winning the 200 medley relay was the SHS team of Breana Hagerty, Triezenberg, Draper and Garbine at 2:04.78. Sturgis’ team of Mia Albarran, Olivia Feyes, Elly Compton and Rylee Myers came in fourth place at 2:30.79.
Jane Toner swam to third place in the 200 freestyle at 2:29.70, Myers finished sixth at 2:52.07.
Albarran swam to second place in the 200 individual medley, posting a time of 2:50.28. Triezenberg finished third at 2:51.10 and Chloe Clark came in fourth at 2:53.54.
In the 50 freestyle, Draper was second at 25.66 seconds. Hagerty came in third at 27.86 seconds and Feyes was fourth overall at 29.21 seconds.
Cora Taylor finished second in diving with 114.35 points.
Clark came in fourth in the 100 butterfly at 1:24.02.
Garbine swam to second in the 100 freestyle at 59.21 seconds, Hagerty finished third at 1:03.47. Stella Males’ time of 1:14.26 was good for fifth.
In the 500 freestyle, Toner came in second place at 6:37.48. Albarran swam a time of 6:47.92 for fourth place, Feyes came in fifth position at 6:59.68.
Sturgis’ 200 freestyle relay teams finished second, fourth and fifth. The second place team of Draper, Hagerty, Albarran and Garbine finished second (1:51.03), the fourth place team of Males, Elly Compton, Clark and Toner had a time of 2:07.07 and the team of Jazira Lara-Flores, Brisa Oros, Kylie Rose and Taylor finished fifth with an exhibition time of 2:39.60.
Myers finished third in the 100 backstroke at 1:27.06, Males finished fourth at 1:28.23 and Rose came in fifth place at 1:45.77.
Compton came in fifth place in the 100 breaststroke at 1:40.34.
Finishing second in the 400 freestyle relay was the team of Feyes, Clark, Toner and Triezenberg at 4:43.20. The team of Males, Oros, Myers and Compton came in fourth at 5:30.81.
