Trooper, 2 others injured in early morning crash in Lake County

A Florida Highway Patrol trooper and two other people were injured in a crash along a busy roadway in Lake County Tuesday morning.

According to FHP, the trooper was parked behind a tow truck on U.S. Highway 192 near Town Center Boulevard, investigating an earlier crash just before 5 a.m.

Investigators said a Chrysler Crossfire heading westbound on U.S. 192 for an unknown reason changed lanes, hitting the front of the cruiser before hitting the tow truck driver and truck.

Troopers said the driver of the Crossfire, a 27-year-old male from Clermont, was taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.

The trooper and tow truck driver were both taken to South Lake Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The westbound lanes of U.S. 192 were closed for several hours while troopers investigated the crash

FHP says the crash is still under investigation.
