Troopers seize crack and marijuana worth $12,000

A Michigan man was arrested in Sandusky County after a traffic stop and a search revealed $12,000 worth of marijuana and crack cocaine in his car.

Troopers stopped Lamar Yancy, Jr., of Detroit, on the Ohio Turnpike at 12:50 p.m. for speeding in a rented 2021 Volkswagen Passat registered in West Virginia, according to a news release from the patrol. While interacting with the driver, troopers noticed the odor of raw marijuana coming from the vehicle's interior and initiated a probable cause search. The search revealed 30 grams of marijuana in the vehicle's center console and 139 grams of crack cocaine in the spare tire compartment of the trunk.

Yancy was charged with possession of cocaine, a first-degree felony, and possession of marijuana, a minor misdemeanor.
