Troopers: Single-vehicle crash leaves 1 dead in Brown County

One person is dead following a crash in Brown County early Wednesday morning, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The crash happened at 12:14 a.m. on Martin Alexander Road at Tri-County Highway in Eagle Township, troopers said in a news release.

Troopers say Brian Heitman, 39, of Seaman, Ohio, was driving a Chrysler Town & Country northeast on Martin Alexander Road when he failed to yield at a stop sign.

Heitman veered off the right side of the road and struck a mailbox, parked trailer and fence before his vehicle came to a stop, troopers said. He suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A front-seat passenger in Heitman's vehicle did not sustain any injuries, the release states.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
