Tropical Depression Imelda Causes Severe Flooding in Beaumont, Texas

Heavy rainfall from Tropical Depression Imelda caused severe flooding in parts of southeastern Texas on Thursday morning, September 19, as seen in this footage, captured in Beaumont.

The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for areas across southeastern Texas, and a flash flood emergency was declared for Beaumont, Port Neches, and Nederland.

12 News reported that high water rescues were underway in Jefferson County, with the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office saying over 1,000 people had asked to be rescued.
