Tropical Depression Sean disintegrates. Focus now on disturbance taking time to develop

Now that Tropical Depression Sean has disintegrated into remnants, the National Hurricane Center’s attention is focused on disturbance “AL94.”

The hurricane center’s 8 a.m. Monday advisory says the weather system is midway between Africa’s west coast and the Windward Islands.

“The low-level circulation has become better defined since [Sunday] and, since environmental conditions are expected to remain conducive for further development, a tropical depression is still likely to form within a few days,” the hurricane center said. “This system is forecast to move westward or west-northwestward across the central and western tropical Atlantic during the next several days.”

Still, the chance of formation continues to fall compared to the weekend.

Formation chance through 48 hours: 30%, down from 40% through most of Sunday.

Formation chance through seven days: 70%, down from 80% through most of Sunday.
