Tropical Storm Beta is set to make landfall along Texas' central or upper Gulf Coast late Monday night, the National Hurricane Center said. It could drop up to 20 inches of rain to some areas of Texas and Louisiana. (Sept. 21)
SYLVESTER TURNER: And now we are dealing with tropical storm Beta. And so I want people to be very aware, based on information that we're getting in terms of the Houston area, the inland area, we can expect anywhere between six to 10 inches of rain, give or take. It could be more depending on the bands of rain that come into our area. But we're expecting about six to 10 inches over the next several days, today, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. And we're expecting wind of anywhere between at times 35 to it could be 35 to 45 miles per hour.
Again, Monday and Tuesday are the critical days. We expect this system to be out of here sometime on Wednesday.
