Tropics off to fast start with 7 wins in 8 games

The Florida Tropics won a seventh game in eight contests thanks to team captain Victor Parreiras' career-high four goals.

According to a press release, the Tropics won 12-3 over the Harrisburg Heat in a Major Arena Soccer League game Sunday at the RP Funding Center. Additionally, the Tropics lead the league with 60 total goals scored, while allowing just 23 goals this year.

Tied in a 1-1 game, Parreiras scored back-to-back goals that catapulted the Tropics to a decisive win. The forward's first goal was a scissors kick from close to 15 feet out. And the second was a laser beneath the crossbar after a restart from the top of the arc. Parreiras finished with five points on the day.

Forward Bruno Henrique and Brenno Oliveria both had two goals each. Midfielder Kiel Williams, midfielder Anthony Arico, forward Zach Reget, and Ben Espinal all scored a goal apiece. The Heat's Dom Francis put up two goals; the Heat drop to 0-5 on the year.

Tropics goalkeeper Hugo Silva had 21 saves. Silva leads the MASL in goals against average and saves percentage. He is also tied in goalie wins with six.

Next up for the Tropics is a game versus the Dallas Sidekicks 3:05 p.m. Sunday at the RP Funding Center.
