Troye Sivan Channels Pamela Anderson With His Latest Onstage Look

Troye Sivan was only four years old in 1999, but he’s clearly nostalgic for those bygone, early internet days. Just take his video from last year, that he made with Charli XCX for their song “1999”—Charli and Sivan each cosplay as iconic late ’90s pop culture icons like Steve Jobs and Eminem, while also recreating Marilyn Manson and Rose McGowan’s unforgettable MTV Music Awards red carpet appearance together (yes, that time McGowan wore the sheer black dress with a thong, while Manson wore a kaleidoscopic leopard print).

Now, Sivan is bringing this era-specific styling to the stage, too. With the help of stylist Marc Sebastian Faeilla, Sivan channeled the outfit that Pamela Anderson wore with Tommy Lee by her side to the 1999 MTV Video Music Awards: a massive marabou hat accessorized with a white feather, and a super cinched white corset. Sivan carefully recreated the look down to every last detail (feather included), adding some tiny red sunglasses in lieu of Anderson’s bright blue eyeshadow. Sivan’s obsession with 1999 wasn’t just a fleeting interest—he’s clearly committed to putting his own spin on all of the most outrageous celebrity looks of his youth.
