After years away from home, even a star like Troye Sivan can get a little homesick. When the singer-songwriter saw this show stopping home for sale in his hometown, he jumped at the chance to buy it. “Yeah, I have been living in America for the last maybe like five or six years, and I have been so homesick the entire time,” says Sivan. “And I found this house and I was just like, done.”

The Victorian-Era home is the perfect blend of contemporary and minimalist design housed the bones of classic architecture. One design aspect Sivan can’t live without is good lighting. Instead of adopting the ever popular overhead lighting, the singer opted for soft, dispersed lighting that accents the natural light during the day and creates an ambient atmosphere at night. Troye used wall sconces, sculptural floor lamps, and clusters of small pendant lights to achieve this ethereal vibe.

“I'm going to say this a lot, but I think it's my favorite part of the house,” Sivan says of his modern minimalist kitchen. “It just feels really, really chill.” Above the kitchen sink, a garage-like window swings open giving the room a beautiful flow from the outside courtyard. Troye’s breakfast bar is an artful masterpiece in its own right. “This is a servery. I think it's a technique called ‘end block’, where like each of these pieces is a separate piece of wood that they stick together and then they cut it and you get this like finish,” explains Sivan. While the bar counter is food safe, Sivan promises he uses plates… most of the time.

The courtyard is the focal point of the home, flooding the open interior with natural light. “This is my actual, actual favorite part of the house,” says Sivan of his backyard oasis. “I think this is the reason why I fell in love with it in the first place.” The enclosed yard is littered with beautiful plant life, bringing a sense of his California home to Melbourne.
