Truck crashes into woods near Sagamore Bridge, driver unhurt

BOURNE — A truck driver was unhurt Friday morning when his 18-wheel dump truck went off the road and into woods on Route 6 westbound approaching the Sagamore Bridge, according to Bourne Assistant Fire Chief David Pelonzi.

Crews went to the scene around 9:55 a.m. While en route, the district fire warden from the Department of Conservation and Recreation came upon the crash and reported that the driver was out of the vehicle and unhurt.

Bourne Deputy Chief Richard Emberg arrived, investigated the scene, and determined there were no hazards at the spot. The ambulance arrived and evaluated the driver, who refused treatment and transportation to the hospital. Bourne Fire/Rescue crews turned the scene over to the State Police, and all cleared the scene by 10:10 a.m.
