Truck smashes into bank in Fresno shopping center, injuring three, police say

Three people were injured in Fresno inside a River Park bank on Wednesday when a truck crashed through the front of the building.

Police said a woman in her 70s was stopping in an accessible parking stall outside Chase Bank on Blackstone and Nees avenues about 10:30 a.m. when she accidentally stepped on the gas instead of the brake.

The full-size Chevrolet truck crashed through the glass front of the building and the truck may have hit as many as six people, Sgt. Diana Trueba Vega said.

Three refused aid and three others were taken to an area hospital with injuries that were undetermined, she said. They appeared to all be adults.

Traffic in the area was not affected but the bank was closed, she said.

A Chase spokesperson for the region pointed customers another location:

“Our thoughts are with those injured and their families,” Christina Dello Buono said.

“The branch is temporarily closed. Customers can visit our First St. branch two miles away at 7160 N. First St. or go to chase.com for additional locations.”
