Truckers roll to 10-0 win in Lake opener

Aug. 30—SANDUSKY — The Norwalk boys soccer team opened SBC Lake Division play with a 10-0 rout over host Sandusky in a match that was stopped after 52 minutes because of inclement weather.

The Truckers (2-2, 1-0) assisted on nine of the 10 goals in the victory.

Scoring two goals each for Norwalk included Cameron Shoop, CJ Johnson, Drew Thomas and Landon Ferkel. Corbin Sigg and Marco Sanchez scored once each.

In assists, Juan Galvez-Martinez, Jonathan Perez and Mason Gamble each had two, while Shoop, Noah Kluding and Ferkel had one each.

On defense, the Truckers did not allow the Blue Streaks to attempt a shot on goal.

Norwalk will entertain Tiffin Columbian on Wednesday in another league match.

GIRLS SOCCER

Edison 7, Huron 0

MILAN — The Chargers improved to 3-0 overall and 1-0 in the Bay with Monday's win over rival Huron.

Scoring two goals for Edison was Abby Hearing. Ingrid Berckmueller, Alaina Keegan, Amerlia Chartrant, Haley Chaput and Rachel Frederick scored once each for the Chargers.

Julie Wilgrube had four assists and Keegan added two, while goalkeeper Brianna Marcy made 10 saves.

BOYS GOLF

New London 184, Plymouth 193

NEW LONDON — The Wildcats improved to 5-2 overall and 4-1 in the Firelands Conference with Monday's win at Millstone Hills.

For New London, Carter Eibel led the team with a 38. He was followed by Jayson Schaffer (47), Grady Heileman (49), Brody Sword (50), Tate Landis (54) and Jacob Myers (55).

New London will travel to Eagle Creek in Norwalk on Tuesday to face St. Paul.

JUNIOR HIGH

St. Paul sweeps New London

The St. Paul seventh and eighth-grade volleyball teams swept New London in Firelands Conference action Monday night.

The seventh grade posted scores of 25-9 and 25-8.

Elsie Shumaker served 16 for 17 with nine aces and had an assist for St. Paul. Brooklyn Cassidy was 6 for 8 serving with three aces and a kill, while Jess Matlack was 3 for 4 serving with three aces.

Piper Hipp and Mia Mutchler each added a kill and Layla Fair had an assist.

The eighth-grade team won by scores of 25-8 and 25-9.

Ella Kalizewski was 10 for 12 serving with nine aces and had four kills and three assists. Kennedy Frazee was 12 for 12 serving with three aces and had three assists, while Sarah Gocsik was 5 for 6 serving with two aces.

Also for the Flyers, Avery Gibson had three kills and Ally Talbot had two, while Annie Friend led the setting with six assists.
