Trudeau: Canadians who protested him are 'racist,' 'misogynistic,' 'anti-vaxxer mobs'

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said protesters demonstrating against him were "anti-vaxxer mobs" launching "racist, misogynistic attacks."

Trudeau made the comments during a Monday press conference, speaking on anti-Trudeau protesters who held a separate event a day prior. Demonstrators were seen holding anti-Trudeau signs and blocking a Liberal Party campaign bus's path.

"Yes, there is a small, fringe element in this country that is angry, that doesn’t believe in science, that is lashing out with racist, misogynistic attacks, but Canadians, the vast majority of Canadians, are not represented by them," Trudeau said.

"And I know we'll not allow those voices, those special interest groups, those protesters — I don’t even want to call them protesters, those anti-vaxxer mobs — to dictate how this country gets through this pandemic and how we recover our economy free from lockdowns, where people go back to work and back to doing the things they want to do and keep our kids safe," he continued.

Trudeau pledged in August that he would commit $1 billion to create a proof-of-vaccination fund if his party is reinstated on Sept. 20, giving cash to provinces that enforce vaccine passports.

The election marks a "pivotal, consequential moment" for Canada, Trudeau said.

"We will be taking decisions that will last not just for the coming months but for the coming decades. Canadians deserve their say," he added. "That's exactly what we're going to give them."
