True Detective fans brand creator Nic Pizzolatto "sore loser" after he snubbed season 4

True Detective creator Nic Pizzolatto has come under fire from fans after, once again, criticising fourth season Night Country.
Season four aired its final episode on Sunday evening (February 18) with showrunner Issa López now at the helm.
It was the first season of True Detective not to have Pizzolatto as the showrunner or as a writer.

But it seems he's been unhappy with the direction the series has taken and he's not been quiet about it.
On X, NPR TV critic Eric Deggans shared screenshots from Pizzolatto's Instagram Story which showed him retweeting negative reviews of Night Country.
Deggans captioned the post: "True Detective's 4th season was so bad, it was the most-watched season of the show EVER.
"Instead, of counting his money and thanking Issa Lopez for rescuing his franchise w/an amazing series, Nic Pizzolato seems determined to show what a sore loser he is."
New Republic TV critic Phillip Maciak shared: "You may have liked the True Detective finale or you may have hated the True Detective finale.
"But one thing is indisputable: Nic Pizzolatto is on Instagram, posting other people’s stories about how Issa López ruined the franchise like an absolutely enormous baby."

Pizzolato previously responded to criticism of season four on Instagram by replying "can't blame me" after a fan shared their dissatisfaction with the season.
Responding to Pizzolato's criticism, López told Vulture: "I believe that every storyteller has a very specific, peculiar and unique relation to the stories they create, and whatever his reactions are, he’s entitled to them.
"That’s his prerogative. I wrote this with profound love for the work he made and love for the people that loved it."
True Detective: Night Country airs on Sky Atlantic and streaming service NOW in the UK. In the US, it airs on HBO.
