Trump aides warned him that war with Mitch McConnell could backfire, report says, but he wanted to get positive TV ratings

After a battle of words between former President Donald Trump and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell on his responsibility for the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, the Washington Post reported that Trump told his aides that "taking on McConnell will be popular with his supporters and will drive favorable TV coverage."
