Trump will be on 'Meet the Press' this Sunday for first time in his presidency

For the first time in his presidency, Donald Trump will be on "Meet the Press," host Chuck Todd announced via Twitter. The show will air Sunday.

President Donald Trump will be on NBC News' "Meet the Press" on Sunday for the first time as president.

Chuck Todd, the news show's host, announced Friday via Twitter that he would be sitting down exclusively with Trump at the White House to discuss the latest tensions between the United States and Iran.

The full interview is slated to air Sunday during the usual time slot for "Meet the Press" at 9 a.m. ET.

According to CNN, this is the first interview that Trump has done with NBC since 2017, when he sat down with Lester Holt. Trump was a guest on "Meet the Press" in 2016 when he was a presidential candidate, CNN reported.

Todd, who is also NBC News' political director, has not exactly been an object of Trump's affection over the years.

Trump's comments on Todd began long before Trump ran for office in 2016. In October 2012, he tweeted, "Sleepy eyes @chucktodd is an absolute joke of a reporter."

His use of the term "Sleepy eyes" to refer to Todd continued for years afterward, appearing fairly regularly in Trump's tweets directed toward the host.
