President Donald Trump believes God gave him COVID-19.

The infected president on Wednesday called his COVID-19 diagnosis “a blessing from God” that made him discover a “fantastic” new drug that he wants all coronavirus-stricken Americans to have access to free of charge.

Trump, who tested positive for COVID-19 last week and is all but certainly still contagious, made the outlandish comments in a video recorded in the White House Rose Garden and posted on his Twitter account.

“I want everybody to be given the same treatment as your president because I feel great. I feel, like, perfect,” Trump said, referring to an experimental monoclonal antibody cocktail from pharmaceutical giant Regeneron that he received over the course of his three-day hospitalization at Walter Reed Medical Center.

“So I think this was a blessing from God that I caught it,” Trump continued. “I caught it, I heard about this drug. I said, ‘Let me take it’ — it was my suggestion — I said, ‘Let me take it,’ and it was incredible the way it worked, incredible. And I think if I didn’t catch it we’d be looking at that like a number of other drugs.”

The 74-year-old president, who was not wearing a face mask in the video despite his COVID-19 diagnosis, claimed he’s going to make the antibody-drug available at no cost to all coronavirus patients in the U.S.

“You’re not going to pay for it,” he said. “It wasn’t your fault that this happened, it was China’s fault and China’s going to pay a big price for what they’ve done to this country. China’s going to pay a big price for what they’ve done to the world, so just remember that.”

Trump did not explain how he would be able to make the Regeneron drug free. A White House spokesman did not return a request for comment.

Joe Biden, who is trouncing Trump in most general election polls, was stunned by the president waxing religious about the pandemic.

“Gotta think before I speak on this one,” Biden told reporters near his Delaware home. “I think it’s a tragedy the president deals with COVID like it is something not to be worried about when already 210,000 people have died. I think it’s a tragedy.”

Despite Trump’s incessant finger-pointing at China, researchers say the virus made its way to the U.S. from both Europe and the Asian country.

Though the virus is believed to have originated in China, public health experts say that the U.S. has the worst COVID-19 death toll in the world by far because the Trump administration failed to enact a rigorous plan for fighting the pandemic at its outset.

The president’s Rose Garden video suggests he’s not quarantining in the White House residence, as had initially been expected after he was discharged from Walter Reed on Monday night.

Though Trump’s doctors say he’s doing better, they have promised that they’re keeping a close eye on him, as some COVID-19 patients relapse later on in their convalescence period.

Considering his age, clinical obesity and history of heart issues, Trump is at heightened risk of developing severe complications from the deadly virus.
