Trump fires security adviser John Bolton: 'His services are no longer needed'

Donald Trump said he let go of John Bolton in a tweet posted on Tuesday afternoon after he “disagreed strongly” with “many” of his ex-national security adviser’s suggestions.

The president said he “asked John for his resignation, which was given to me this morning”. He added: “I thank John very much for his service.”

“I will be naming a new National Security Adviser next week,” Mr Trump wrote.
