Former President Trump Monday lashed out at ex-Georgia Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan as an Atlanta grand jury is already hearing evidence in the Peach state election interference case.

Trump warned Duncan to defy a legal subpoena for his testimony in the case that stems from the ex-president’s push to overturn President Biden’s narrow win in the key battleground state.

“I am reading reports that failed former Lt. Governor of Georgia, Jeff Duncan, will be testifying before the Fulton County Grand Jury. He shouldn’t,” Trump wrote on his social media site.

Trump derided Duncan, a longtime critic, as “a nasty disaster” for opposing his broader alleged scheme to overturn the election and stay in power.

It’s not known if Trump may face legal consequences for his threat to Duncan, who has said he will comply with the summons to testify.

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis began investigating more than two years ago, shortly after a damning phone call Trump made to Georgia’s top election official.

If Trump is indicted in Georgia, it would be his fourth indictment in recent months.

Leaked details of the Georgia probe suggest that Willis is building a case under the state’s Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations, or RICO, law which would allow her to charge numerous people in a potentially wide-ranging scheme involving Trump and others.

The Georgia investigation was prompted by the Jan. 2, 2021 call Trump made to Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, a fellow Republican.

Trump suggested the state’s top elections official could help “find” just enough votes needed to overtake Biden in the state.

“All I want to do is this: I just want to find 11,780 votes, which is one more than we have,” Trump is heard saying on a recording of the call, which was leaked to news outlets. “Because we won the state.”

Trump has insisted he did nothing wrong and has repeatedly said the call was “perfect.”

The Georgia probe covers some of the same issues that special counsel Jack Smith has charged Trump with carrying out nationwide, including efforts to recruit a fake slate of pro-Trump electors who falsely claimed he won the state.

In Georgia, prosecutors are also reportedly investigating a Trump campaign effort to improperly gain access to voting machines in a rural heavily Republican county after the 2020 vote.

CNN reported over the weekend that Georgia prosecutors have text messages and emails directly linking members of Trump’s legal team, including Rudy Giuliani, to the voting system breach, which was aimed at uncovering non-existent evidence of voter fraud.

When his various efforts to overturn the election failed in Georgia and elsewhere, Trump urged his followers to “fight like hell” to keep him in power in a fiery Jan. 6, 2021 speech.

Thousands of violent pro-Trump extremists stormed the Capitol in an effort to physically block Congress from certifying Biden’s win.
