Trump and Netanyahu to announce Middle East peace plan on Tuesday

President Trump said he'll unveil a plan for peace in the Middle East at noon on Tuesday.

He met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as well as his rival Israeli politician Benny Gantz to discuss the administration's Middle East peace plan at the White House on Monday.

Trump was scheduled to meet with Netanyahu then Gantz. Netanyahu's and Gantz's parties are pitted against one another in the Israel legislative elections slated for March.

Monday's meeting with Netanyahu was expected to be closed to press, but Trump and Netanyahu discussed the "opportunity of the century" in the Oval Office, in Netanyahu's words.

"The peace plan devised by President Trump will go down in history," Gantz said ahead of the meeting.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has already rejected the unreleased peace plan.

Netanyahu has been prime minister since 2009 ⁠— after serving in the same position from 1996 to 1999.
