Iran‘s Revolutionary Guard has shot down a US drone to send a “clear message” to the Trump administration after US secretary of state Mike Pompeo blamed the regime for an attack on two foreign oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz last week.
Donald Trump has yet to address the incident but did give in an interview to Sean Hannity of Fox News on Wednesday night in which he urged the host not to “worry about a thing” regarding tensions on the world stage with Iran, China and Russia.
The Pentagon has called the downing of the drone an "unprovoked attack" by Tehran in international airspace. Iran says the drone crossed its border.
In Capitol Hill, Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee were left frustrated by White House stonewalling after their eight-hour, behind-closed-doors interview with ex-Trump aide Hope Hicks was thwarted by lawyers claiming “absolute immunity” on behalf of the executive, preventing the witness from answering questions about her tenure as a spokesperson for the Oval Office.
