Trump Organization CFO Allen Weisselberg is resisting attempts by prosecutors to get him to flip and provide evidence against his boss, Donald Trump, The Washington Post reported.

The former president is under investigation by the Manhattan district attorney, Cyrus Vance, and the New York attorney general, Letitia James, over possible financial and tax crimes by the Trump Organization umbrella company.

A source close to the Manhattan probe told The Post that prosecutors are getting frustrated with Weisselberg's lack of cooperation. They believe that he continues to regularly speak with Trump, the source said.

According to the report Weisselberg was seen entering Trump Tower after the former president arrived there on his birthday, which was June 14.

Weisselberg, a trusted confidante who has worked for the family for decades, also continues to show up for work at Trump Tower every day, another apparent sign that he's not turning his back on the former president.

Legal experts recently told Insider that another possibility is that Weisselberg is holding out for the best possible deal from prosecutors in return for cooperation.

Reports suggest that prosecutors are weighing whether to bring charges against the CFO himself this summer.

Weisselberg's cooperation is said to be considered vital by prosecutors, who prize the depth of his knowledge of financial affairs at the Trump Organization, over which he had extensive oversight.

In a bid to encourage his cooperation, prosecutors are bringing extraordinary pressure to bear on Weisselberg, subpoaenaing his grandchildren's school and probing the finances of his son, Barry, who is also a Trump Organization employee.

The allegations being probed by prosecutors is whether the Trump Organization misrepresented its finances for tax, loan or insurance benefits.

Trump has denied any wrongdoing, and claims that the investigations against him are politically motivated.

Both Vance and James are Democrats.
