Trump says he'll get a Nobel prize

President Trump entertained the idea of receiving a coveted Nobel Prize, during a press encounter Monday at the U.N. General Assembly.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) UNIDENTIFIED REPORTER SAYING (OFF-CAMERA):

"Very likely and definitely you will be receiving a Nobel Prize. How about that?"

(SOUNDBITE) (English) U.S. PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP SAYING:

"I think I'll get a Nobel prize for a lot of things. I think I'm going to get a Nobel prize for a lot of things. If they gave it out fairly, which they don't. They gave one to Obama, immediately upon his ascent to the presidency. He had no idea why he got it, and you know what? That was the only thing I agreed with him on."

Trump made the comments during a bilateral meeting with Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan.

In February, Trump said the Japanese premier had given him a copy of a five-page nomination letter to the Norwegian Nobel Committee.

Trump had earlier made the case that he deserves to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his work on North Korea and Syria.
