Trump says he is ‘paying close attention’ to ‘loser RINO Liz Cheney’
Former President Donald Trump is paying attention to the 2022 midterm elections, especially the races with fellow Republicans who voted to impeach his presidency, such as House Rep. Liz Cheney.
“Paying close attention to the Wyoming House Primary against loser RINO Liz Cheney. Some highly respected pollsters tell me she's toast in Wyoming after siding with Crazy Nancy Pelosi and supporting the Democrat Impeachment Hoax,” he wrote in an email message Tuesday.
The former president will play an active role in speaking with her primary opponents before choosing one to endorse, he said.
“And that’s just the beginning! This is a ‘hot’ race with some very interesting candidates running against her,” he wrote.

He added: “Remember though, in the end we just want ONE CANDIDATE running against Cheney. I'll be meeting with some of her opponents in Bedminster next week and will be making my decision on who to endorse in the next few months. JUST ONE CANDIDATE. Thank you!”
Once the third-highest-ranking Republican in the House, Cheney was stripped of her leadership position after publicly criticizing Trump.
Trump seized on the vote to remove her from leadership, calling her a “poor leader” and “bad for our country.”
"The Republicans in the House of Representatives have a great opportunity today to rid themselves of a poor leader, a major Democrat talking point, a warmonger, and a person with absolutely no personality or heart," Trump said in a statement May 12. "As a representative of the Great State of Wyoming, Liz Cheney is bad for our Country and bad for herself. Almost everyone in the Republican Party, including 90% of Wyoming, looks forward to her ouster—and that includes me!"
Cheney continued the proxy war, arguing Wyoming voters would choose her over Trump.
“Bring it on,” she said in May. “I intend to be the leader, one of the leaders, in a fight to help restore our party.”
Cheney also used her last floor speech as a chamber leader to swipe Trump.
"Today, we face a threat America has never seen before. A former president, who provoked a violent attack on this Capitol in an effort to steal the election, has resumed his aggressive effort to convince Americans that the election was stolen from him. He risks inciting further violence," she said at the time.

While Cheney enjoys popularity in her district, Trump won the state in 2016 and 2020.
Cheney’s primary contest is seen as an opportunity for voters to choose between their loyalty to the former president or move on from his party leadership.
