Trump’s Senate Impeachment Trial Starts Today: What to Expect
The Senate will convene Tuesday at 1 p.m. ET to debate an organizing resolution in the impeachment trial of President Trump.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s office sent the organizing resolution to Senate offices on Monday. The resolution outlines his proposed plan to allow House impeachment managers and Trump’s legal team to each have 24 hours split over two days for their opening arguments. CNN, which obtained the organizing resolution, pointed out that the 24 hours were split over a four-day period in President Bill Clinton’s impeachment trial.

The major news broadcast channels — NBC, ABC and CBS — will all be carrying Tuesday afternoon’s proceedings and the cable news channels are doing special coverage all day. Fox News is offering its local Fox affiliates Bill Hemmer’s coverage from D.C. from Tuesday through Wednesday.
C-SPAN will also air the entire proceedings live at 1 p.m. ET on C-SPAN2 and has promised “live gavel-to-gavel uninterrupted coverage of the Senate floor.”

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi last Wednesday announced seven impeachment managers who will represent the House of Representatives in the upcoming impeachment trial of President Donald Trump in the Senate.
Representatives Adam Schiff, Jerry Nadler, Zoe Lofgren, Hakeem Jeffries, Val Demings, Jason Crow and Sylvia Garcia were named as impeachment managers. They will serve as the prosecutors in the trial.
