Donald Trump suggested a “revote” of the presidential election could be called if the US Supreme Court did “what’s right for our country”.

In a 46-minute speech recorded in the White House and posted to Facebook, the president repeated his claims of election fraud and irregularities and said “hopefully” the courts get involved.

“Maybe you'll have a revote, but I don't think that's appropriate. When those votes are corrupt, when they're irregular, when they get caught, they're terminated, and I very easily win," Mr Trump said.

Beginning the pre-recorded video saying “this might be the most important speech I’ve ever made”, Mr Trump goes on to claim millions of votes in key swing states were cast illegally.

“If that's the case, the results of the individual swing states must be overturned and overturned immediately,” he said.

Some people say that's too far out. That's too harsh. Well does that mean we take a president and we've just elected a president, where the votes were fraudulent? No. It means you have to turn over the election.”
