Trump urges protesters to 'stay peaceful' minutes after criticizing Pence for not overturning electoral college results

President Trump on Wednesday expressed his disappointment in Vice President Mike Pence, tweeting that he lacked the "courage" to block the Electoral College certification, which was paused after Trump supporters breached the United States Capitol. Trump has asserted that Pence has the authority to toss out votes, despite the Constitution only granting him ceremonial powers during the process.
Mike Pence didn’t have the courage to do what should have been done to protect our Country and our Constitution, giving States a chance to certify a corrected set of facts, not the fraudulent or inaccurate ones which they were asked to previously certify. USA demands the truth!

Despite his apparent anger, the president later sent out posts urging the demonstrators to be peaceful and respect law enforcement officers.
Please support our Capitol Police and Law Enforcement. They are truly on the side of our Country. Stay peaceful!

I am asking for everyone at the U.S. Capitol to remain peaceful. No violence! Remember, WE are the Party of Law & Order – respect the Law and our great men and women in Blue. Thank you!
