Try This Genius DIY Hair Hack And Never Have Dandruff Again

Forget anti-dandruff shampoo because it turns out there’s an entirely different way to rid yourself of those pesky flakes. And chances are it’s already in your bathroom cabinet.
Beauty vlogger, Farah Dhukai (the very same Instabeauty who told us we should be rubbing garlic all over our faces) has come up with an equally bizarre hair hack to solve your flakey frets, by using mouthwash, or more specifically, Listerine.

Taking to her Instagram the blogger posted a short video tutorial to Instagram of her mixing water with Listerine and applying it directly to the scalp. She explains in her post that her quick fix solution will leave your scalp “tingly, cool, refreshed” and flake-free.
And there’s a method behind the madness as she goes on to explain that it’s the menthol, thymol and methyl salicylate, which all have anti-fungal, anti-septic and anti-flammatory properties and are great for soothing itchy irritation and helping rid your hair of dandruff.

This might actually be one DIY hack worth trying as a top hair expert has said there might actually be something in it.
Carole Michaelides, a trichologist at Philip Kingsley, told The Huffington Post that mouthwash like Listerine could actually work in the treatment of dandruff.
“It doesn’t specifically target the malassezia yeast pityrosporum ovale that is thought to be primarily associated with dandruff,” she said, “but it could have a mildly antifungal effect and help reduce irritation.”
