Apart from its beautiful beaches, unique smalltown charm, and independent restaurants and shops, the New Smyrna Beach experience has a negative side: parking.

The city is a popular destination for many in Central Florida and the surrounding area, which makes finding a parking spot near the most visited places – Flagler Avenue and Canal Street – a difficult task.

The city is putting together a parking task force, which will look at ways to alleviate the parking situation in the city for both locals and visitors.

In the meantime, drivers have to do their best to find a spot if they can.

Flagler Avenue

Flagler Avenue, the most popular street on New Smyrna’s beachside, does have a few public parking lots.

The South Pine parking lot is adjacent to the Coronado Civic Center, which is located at 150 N. Pine St. It has two entry points: one on South Pine Street and another on Columbus Avenue. Parking spots are not delineated – cars park on the mostly sandy ground and in between the trees. It is an approximately 10-minute walk to the beach.
