TSC names teachers of the year for elementary, secondary schools

LAFAYETTE, Ind. — The educators named Teachers of the Year for Tippecanoe School Corporation have a combined five decades in teaching.

The Tippecanoe School Corp. named Anne Peters as the district's Elementary Teacher of the Year and Rahul Menon was singled out as the Secondary Teacher of the Year.

Peters, a Title 1 teacher at Woodland Elementary School, has been teaching for 19 years, according to a release from the school district. Principal Lee Sweet describes the Purdue graduate as dependable, consistent and thorough with her teaching. Peters, according to the release, directs her lessons based on the needs her students.

“She is willing to work with any student, regardless of their specific needs or challenges,” Sweet stated in the release. “She also goes above and beyond for our staff and checks in with teachers to see how she can supportthem and help with interventions.”

Rahul Menon, Secondary Teacher of the Year

Menon, a math teacher for 23 years at McCutcheon High School, holds a bachelor’s degree from Purdue University and a master’s degree from Indiana Wesleyan University.

“When I think of Mr. Menon," stated McCutcheon Principal Gloria Grigsby, "I think of a teacher who welcomes all into his classroom and helps them become confident problem solvers.”

Grigsby said Menon is a respected and connected teacher. He offers students opportunities to succeed in his classes, offering tutoring before and after school, while also serving as chairman of the math department, member of the School Improvement Team, sponsor of the Board Game Club and as an assistant tennis coach.

A committee picked Peters and Menon, who will represent Tippecanoe School Corp. in the Indiana 2024 Teacher of the Year program, from a field of winners from their respective campuses:
