TSC promotes three to assistant principals

LAFAYETTE, Ind. — The Tippecanoe School Corp. announced the promotion of three teachers to elementary school assistant principals.

They are: George Berkesch at Woodland Elementary School, Geoffrey Grubb at Mayflower Mill Elementary School and Whitney Reed at Klondike Elementary School.

Berkesch replaces Brock Richardson, who becomes the new principal of Mintonye Elementary School. Berkesch has 13 years of teaching experience, most recently with fourth-grader at Battle Ground Elementary School.

“I bring a high enthusiasm for education, a positive nature and a passion for helping students be the best they can be,” Berkesch said in the school district's news release. “Woodland is an excellent school with passionate teachers and an outstanding school culture. I look forward to working with Mr. Sweet and all of the dedicated staff to maximize each student's potential on a daily basis.”

At this position, Berkesch will oversee curriculum development, test coordination, student discipline, special education services and staff evaluations at the school of 640 students.

At Mayflower Mill, Grubb replaces Jill Pinkerton, who was promoted to principal in the South Montgomery School Corp.

“I am eager to learn and lead with humility, patience and high expectations,” Grubb said in the news release. “TSC has a stellar reputation for supporting and taking care of its staff, and I feel that staff and student empowerment is an essential element of what I hope to bring; therefore, my professional goals align with what TSC is about.”

Grubb has several years experience teaching at Miami Elementary School.

At Mayflower Mill, Grubb will oversee student discipline, special education, support staff and other duties at the school of more than 600 students, according to a news release.

Reed steps into the role of assistant principal at Klondike Elementary School, replacing Marisa Arms after Arms was promoted to principal of Wyandotte Elementary School.

“I am excited to serve the Klondike and TSC community in this new capacity,” Reed said in the news release. “This school is a place where students thrive and are able to be immersed in such a diverse community of learners who uplift each other as one family.”

Reed will oversee student discipline, special education, support staff and other duties of nearly 1,000 students.
