TSSAA Spring Fling top performers: Statewide standouts from Day 1

Here is a look at the top high school performers from the opening day of the TSSAA spring sports state tournaments.

Baseball

Wes Butler, Adamsville: Went 3-for-4 with two RBIs in a 7-5 loss to Loretto.

Thomas Crabtree, Collierville: Went 3-for-4 in a 6-4 victory over Riverdale.

William Davis, Covington: Got the win, allowing two hits and striking out seven in 4.1 innings of a 3-1 victory over Montgomery Central.

Nathan Brewer, Eagleville: Went 4-for-5 with a home run and four RBIs in a 11-0 victory over Bradford.

Joshua Jeffcoat, Eagleville: Got the win, allowing three hits and striking out nine in five innings.

Ryan Winters, Eagleville: Went 3-for-5 with an RBI.

Jackson Sleeper, Franklin Grace: Threw a complete game, five-hitter and struck out 11 in a 6-2 win over Northpoint.

Trace Phillips, Franklin Grace: Went 2-for-3, including a homer, and had two RBIs and two runs scored.

TSSAA BASEBALL: TSSAA baseball state tournament 2022 schedule for Spring Fling

Tanner Lane, Goodpasture: Had four RBIs and scored twice in an 18-2 victory over Silverdale.

Carson Rucker, Goodpasture: Went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and three runs scored.

Trace Anderson, Goodpasture: Went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and three runs scored.

Dean McCalla, Houston: Threw a complete game, one-hitter and struck out 10 in a 2-0 win against Powell.

Daniel Parris, Knoxville Catholic: Threw a complete game, three-hitter and struck out 10 in a 3-0 victory against Lipscomb Academy.

Jake McDaniel, McKenzie: Got the win on the mound, and had four RBIs and scored in a 10-3 win against Univ. School - JC.

Owen Lee, Peabody: Threw a complete game, two-hitter with five strikeouts in a 4-0 win over Gordonsville.

London Burkett, Peabody: Doubled twice and had two RBIs.

Bryce Effler, Pigeon Forge: Doubled and had four RBIs in an 8-6 victory over White House Heritage.

Kevin Fernandez, Pigeon Forge: Went 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

Hugo Green, South Gibson: Went 3-for-3 with two RBIs in a 12-2 victory against Sullivan East.

James Cloyd, South Gibson: Went 3-for-4 with three runs scored.

Jack Brafa, South Gibson: Went 3-for-4, including a double.

Brett Vondohlen, Stewarts Creek: Got the win and went 2-for-4, including a homer, with three RBIs in a 7-0 victory over Centennial.

Joe Duncan, Tullahoma: Threw a complete game, striking out six, in a 3-0 win against Tennessee.

Eli Huddleston, Upperman: Got the win, allowing three hits and striking out 10 in 6.2 innings of a 5-1 victory over Munford.

Carter Shanks, Upperman: Went 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

William Penland, Upperman: Went 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

Ke’jon Wood, Watertown: Went 2-for-4 and scored a run in a 1-0 victory over Loudon

Steven Whitlock, Watertown: Got the win, allowing four hits and striking out six in four innings.

Softball

Emberly Nichols, Clarksville: Threw a complete game, striking out nine in a 9-4 victory over Daniel Boone.

Eva Stafford, Dresden: Threw a complete game, striking out 11 in a 5-3 win over Harriman.

Addisyn Linton, Eagleville: Threw a complete game, three-hitter with 10 strikeouts and went 3-for-3 in a 2-1 win against Jo Byrns.

Avery Flatford, Farragut: Threw a complete game, three-hitter and struck out 16 in a 3-0 win over Stewarts Creek.

Lacey Keck, Gibbs: Threw a complete game, three-hitter with nine strikeouts in a 3-0 victory over Tennessee.

Ashtyn Danley, Huntland: Threw a complete game, two-hitter with eight strikeouts in a 6-1 win over Gordonsville.

Hadley Gardner, Huntland: Went 2-for-4 with four RBIs.

Korey Harris, Jo Byrns: Struck out 10 in seven innings of a 2-1 loss to Eagleville.

Cadey McDaniel, Lexington: Threw a complete game, four-hitter and had 10 strikeouts in a 3-2 victory against Soddy Daisy.

Shay Hollingsworth, Lexington: Homered and had two RBIs.

Mia Brown, Lincoln Co.: Brown was the winning pitcher and homered twice in a 4-3 victory over Brighton.

Megan Armstrong, Oliver Springs: Went 4-for-5 with five RBIs and four runs scored in a 22-2 win over Peabody.

Ella Hampton, Oliver Springs: Went 3-for-5 with three RBIs and three runs scored.

Cloe Murray, Oliver Springs: Went 3-for-4 with three RBIs.

Regan Rowan, Soddy Daisy: Allowed three hits and struck out 12 in a 3-2 loss to Lexington.

Brianna Asmondy, Springfield: Threw a complete game, four-hitter with eight strikeouts in a 4-1 win against Coffee Co.

Elaina Goodfred, Springfield: Homered and had two RBIs.

Soccer

Lucas Nordin, Bearden: Scored three goals in a 4-1 victory over Franklin.

Aidan Parker, Brentwood: Scored two goals in a 4-1 win against Shelbyville.

Dawson Davis, Collierville: Had a goal and an assist in a 3-1 win over Knoxville West.

Cody Kihlberg, Gatlinburg-Pittman: Had two goals in a 5-1 victory over Memphis Business Academy.

Brayden Wilson, Oakland: Had the game-winning goal in double overtime of a 1-0 win against Houston.

Kalao Ebalo, STEM Prep Academy: Scored three goals in a 9-0 victory over McKenzie.

Homam Alkhafaji, STEM Prep: Had two goals and an assist.

Alejandro Castillo, STEM Prep: Scored two goals.

Boys Track

Jeremiah Flemmons, East Hamilton: Won the Class AA high jump and triple jump events.

Jaden Stevenson, Greeneville: Won three events in Class AA (100, 200 and 400)

Barion Brown, Pearl-Cohn: Won three individuals events in Class A (100, 200 and 400) and anchored the Firebirds' winning 800-relay team.

Logan Wagner, South Greene: Won the Class A shot put and discus events.

Girls Track

Aniyah Marshall, East Nashville: Placed first in high jump and 100 hurdles in Class A.

Avia Lane, MLK: Placed first in 100 meters and 200 meters in Class AA and was part of the winning 800 relay and 1,600 relay.

Kara Wilson, Signal Mountain: Placed first in long jump, triple jump and 100 hurdles in Class AA.

Darrah Wiseman, Tellico Plains: Placed first in 800 meters and 3200 meters in Class A.
