Tua Tagovailoa says he was thinking about USC over Alabama after conditioning

On Thursday night, Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill released the fourth episode of his podcast, “It Needed to be Said,” and this episode featured special guest Tua Tagovailoa.

With all of the narratives that have surrounded the Dolphins quarterback this offseason, having him on the podcast was sure to bring out some compelling content.

In the first few minutes of the episode, Tagovailoa talks about his upbringing and the journey that led him to join the Alabama Crimson Tide after high school. However, the quarterback revealed that the conditioning test

“I don’t know if anyone else knows but my close friends, my close buddies, so this kinda unique with this being on your podcast,” Tagovailoa said. “We had this thing called ‘Fourth Quarter,’ and ‘Fourth Quarter’ is spring conditioning. The first day we go out there, this is the first day we see Coach (Nick) Saban out there supervising the drills and the running… After that, I got on the phone with my dad, and I told my dad, ‘Dad, do you think that USC still has an offer for me?’ I was ready to go. I was like ‘Man, I’ve never experienced something like this with the amount of work.’

At the end of the day, Tagovailoa stuck it out with Alabama. He ended up winning a national championship and getting back to another before being selected fifth overall by Miami.

Trojans fans are probably kicking themselves.
