Tucson police are investigating the homicide of a man who was found injured at a building complex on Friday and died later that day in the hospital.

Officers from Operations Division West were sent to the area of Wetmore Road and First Avenue around 9 a.m. Friday where they found the man in the building's courtyard with signs of trauma, according to a news release from the Tucson Police Department.

After authorities provided first aid, Tucson Fire personnel took the victim, identified as 48-year-old Rafael Martinez, to Banner University Medical Center with serious injuries. He died shortly after arriving, police said.

The victim's next of kin has been notified of the homicide.

According to initial investigation from the Homicide Unit, Martinez was arguing with another person which led to a confrontation. He was then seen walking to the courtyard where he was found.

As of Monday, there were no suspects in custody, according to the news release. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the case to call 88-CRIME. Calls can be anonymous.
