With Tuesday Morning and Bath & Beyond closing, here's where to find similar goods in OKC

Mourning Tuesday Morning? Steaming over the loss of Bed Bath & Beyond?

Both national chains are going away. That makes 10 home goods stores closing down in the OKC area in a matter of weeks: four Bed Bath & Beyond, and six Tuesday Morning.

Bed Bath & Beyond filed for bankruptcy protection last month, with plans to close all stores by June 30. Earlier this year, it closed lots of stores in an effort to save others that would have left two remaining here, one in north Oklahoma City, and one in Edmond. The effort failed.

More recently, discounter Tuesday Morning is being liquidated after being bought out of bankruptcy in late April. Going-out-of-business sales are underway at all stores with 30% off lowest ticketed price. The last day to use a Tuesday Morning gift card or return merchandise is this Saturday, May 13, according to ConnectCRE.

"Tuesday Morning has been doing poorly for a while, having previously declared bankruptcy in 2020 and incurring losses in the three years before that. This latest filing and the pending liquidation and store closures seemed inevitable," said Jim Parrack, senior vice president and retail specialist with OKC's Price Edwards & Co.

Parrack added: "In retail, you have to stay relevant to consumers or you bleed to death. Poor product selection, some questionable store locations, and, of course, too much debt led Tuesday Morning to this point."
