Tuesday Morning and Bed, Bath & Beyond out-of-business sales begin in Charlotte region

Two national retail home goods chains have started going-out-of-business sales this week, which includes several locations in the Charlotte region.

Tuesday Morning filed for bankruptcy for the second time in three years in February. The Dallas-based company founded in 1974 closed five Charlotte-area stores and has three still open in Charlotte, Huntersville and Rock Hill. All of Tuesday Morning’s over 200 stores are closing nationwide.

Bed, Bath & Beyond filed for bankruptcy last month. The New Jersey-based company founded in 1971 also is known for home goods and decor. All 360 Bed Bath & Beyond and 120 buybuy Baby store locations nationwide are expected to close by June 30.

In the fall, the company closed its Arboretum store in Charlotte, followed by the Gastonia at 401 Cox Road this year, The Charlotte Observer previously reported. Crunch Fitness will open in the Arborteum space at 3413 Pineville-Matthews Road, according to the gym’s website.

Other struggling retailers that have recently filed for bankruptcy this year are David’s Bridal, with two stores in Mecklenburg County, and Party City, with seven Charlotte-area stores.
