Tuesday morning fire guts mobile home in Mill Township

MILL TOWNSHIP ‒ An early morning fire gutted a single-wide trailer Tuesday at 3837 Eastport Road SE near Dennison.

Firefighters were called to the residence at 8:28 a.m., according to Dennison Fire Chief Dave McConnell.

"Upon arrival, crews found heavy fire in the front of the dwelling," he said. "It received extensive damage. It's pretty much gutted."

Investigators with the State Fire Marshal were on the scene. They were unable to determine what happened, so it was ruled undetermined, though they can't rule out that it was electrical in nature, McConnell said.

A man who lived at the residence escaped injury. He had insurance on the property.

Assisting Dennison at the scene were firefighters from Uhrichsville and Warwick Township, as well as Smith Ambulance, Dennison police and deputies from the Tuscarawas County Sheriff's Office.

Crews were on scene for about four or five hours.
