Time to 'move on': Boris Johnson could scrap his Brexit deal
After all this effort, could the Brexit deal be ditched? Boris Johnson is expected to abandon Brexit legislation in Parliament rather than accept a customs union or second referendum. Ministers are hoping to force the law through the Commons by Thursday evening in an attempt to leave the EU by the end of the month. But, after Speaker John Bercow blocked a "clean" vote, Remainer MPs are plotting to table amendments designed to wreck the Prime Minister's Withdrawal Agreement Bill (WAB). It could make it "almost impossible" to get the deal ratified by next week's deadline. Mr Johnson insisted last night it was time to "move on" as No10 outlined its hardline position on no more delays.
Meanwhile, it has emerged that Britons will remain subject to rulings of the European Court of Justice (ECJ) even if the UK leaves the EU on October 31. The Government published the 110-page WAB late last night in the Commons. It makes clear that the ECJ "continues to have effect in domestic law". What now? Christopher Hope has a day-by-day countdown of how the Bill can pass into law in 10 days. And Tony Diver answers all your niggling Brexit questions.

Number plates on eco-friendly cars go green for traffic perks
Green number plates could be fitted to energy-saving cars in the biggest shake up of vehicle registration rules in decades. The plates will eventually give electric car drivers privileges, such as using bus lanes and cheaper parking. They were unveiled as part of a drive by the Department for Transport to increase the take up of greener vehicles. The public is being asked to choose between a completely green plate, one with a green flash or a green dot. Images of three proposed designs have been released as part of a consultation.
Fears for 'fragile' royals: Is this a Princess Diana moment?
After the Duke and Duchess of Sussex told a television audience of their personal unhappiness, Prince William is reportedly worried for the wellbeing of the couple said to be in a "fragile place". ITV's documentary, with a visibly upset Duchess, reminded some royal experts of Princess Diana's own famous on-air interview. Angela Levin makes comparisons to the "Panorama moment" as she assesses the portrait of an unhappy prince who wears his heart on his sleeve.

Stomach for alcohol | A man discovered he had a rare condition that made his stomach brew beer after police pulled him over on suspicion of drink driving. The motorist claimed to be sober, despite a breath test suggesting he had consumed the equivalent of 10 alcoholic drinks. Doctors found a fungal growth in his stomach was producing brewer's yeast that kick-started fermentation.
