Tuesday is Oregon’s registration deadline to vote in the May primary election
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – If you live in Oregon and haven’t registered to vote for the May primary election, you now have less than a day to do it.
The state’s voter registration deadline is at 11:59 p.m. sharp on Tuesday.

According to the Secretary of State’s website, you must be a U.S. citizen, Oregon resident and at least 16 years of age to register. However, those under 18 years old will not receive a ballot until an election falls on – or after – their birthday.
Oregon residents will need a state driver’s license, permit or other identification issued by the Driver and Motor Vehicle Services Division to register online.
Residents without an Oregon ID can begin the process online, but must print their voter registration card and sign it before mailing it to county election officials. You can also register in person at county elections offices.

Many Oregonians are automatically registered to vote when they renew or obtain a state license through the DMV, due to a law that went into effect in January 2016.
If you receive an Oregon Motor Voter card in the mail, you have the option to do nothing and register as an unaffiliated voter, fill out the card and choose a political party — which allows you to vote in the primary race — or opt out of registering altogether. The OMV card must be mailed within 21 days of receiving it.

Candidate Filings and Local Measures
The Secretary of State’s office has also listed the candidates and local measures that Oregonians will vote on later in May.
Oregon’s 2024 primary election is set for Tuesday, May 21.
