MALVERN 69, WEST MUSKINGUM 60 At Gnadenhutten, the No. 1 seed Hornets took control with a dominating second quarter and won this Division III East district semifinal at Indian Valley High School. Trailing 17-10 after one quarter, Malvern outscored No. 4 seed West Muskingum 24-7 in the second quarter to lead by 10 at the half. Dylan Phillips led Malvern (24-1) with 21 points. J'Allen Barrino totaled 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Mitch Minor connected on five 3-pointers and scored 18 points for the Hornets. They advance to face No. 3 seed Garaway (21-4) -- a 68-45 winner Tuesday vs. Harrison Central — in Friday's 7 p.m. district championship game at New Philadelphia. Malvern won at Garaway 61-58 in overtime on Feb. 7. Jack Porter led West Muskingum (20-5) with 20 points, while Gage Newsom added 13 and Noah Ray 10. Malvern, in a district final for the fourth straight year, seeks its first district title since 2017.

CENTRAL CATHOLIC 60, TRINITY 50 The Crusaders are back in the district final for the first time since 2019 after a Division III Northeast 5 semifinal win at Wooster High School. No. 4 seed Central (15-9) faces No. 1 seed Norwayne (21-4) in Friday's 7 p.m. district final back at Wooster. No other details were available.

CUYAHOGA HEIGHTS 42, ST. THOMAS AQUINAS 37 Nate Biggers scored 17 points and Braylan McClardy added 11 as the No. 2 seed Red Wolves avoided the upset bid by No. 7 Aquinas in a Division III Northeast 4 district semifinal at Gilmour Academy. The Knights, a regional finalist last year in Division IV, led by as many as 11 points in the first half and went to the break up 22-15. But Cuyahoga Heights outscored Aquinas 16-5 in the third quarter to go ahead. Julius Kimbrough's 18 points led Aquinas (16-9). Cuyahoga Heights (21-3) will make its first district championship appearance since 2018 when it faces No. 3 Smithville in Friday's 7 p.m. final back at Gilmour Academy.
