FARMINGDALE, Maine - Keira Alessi's goal in the 77th minute lifted the eighth-seeded Traip Academy girls soccer team to a 1-0 upset over top-seeded Hall-Dale on Tuesday in a Class C South quarterfinal.

Traip (8-8) will now face fifth-seeded Waynflete on Saturday in a semifinal game. Waynflete advanced with a 6-0 win over No. 4 Monmouth Academy.

Avery Bouffard assisted on Alessi's goal.

Traip goalie Lilly Stuart had nine saves, while counterpart Aubrey Gilbert had five. This is Stuart's second straight tournament shutout.

DOVER - Elizabeth Flynn, Kate Burrus, Maddie Karsonovich, Ella Pottle and Gabby Scott all had a goal for the top-seeded Saints in this Divison III preliminary round win.

Pottle added two assists for St. Thomas Aquinas, while Burrus and Elizabeth Flynn both had one.

St. Thomas Aquinas goalie Abby Rayder had two saves.

VOLLEYBALL

No. 4 Exeter 3

No. 13 Concord 1

EXETER - Caroline Burke had 37 assists, 20 digs and four blocks, and Summer LeClerc had 13 kills and 13 digs as the fourth-seeded Blue Hawks advanced in this Division I tournament with this first-round win.

Exeter will host No. 5 Nashua North on Thursday at 6 p.m. in a quarterfinal game.

Individual game scores were 22-25, 25-18, 25-10,25-22.

Rachel Poulin (12 digs, eight kills), Anja Boire (four blocks and two aces) and Julia Holly (21 digs, three aces) starred for Exeter.
