Here are Tuesday's high school sports results for the Wausau and Stevens Point area

SOFTBALL

Stevens Point 3-11, Merrill 0-1

MERRILL - Zoe Fink had two hits and Kaitlyn Kilsmith and Kyla O’Neal both drove in runs as the Panthers blanked the Bluejays in the opener, while Maddy Miklesh was 3-for-4 with four RBI in the nightcap to power the Stevens Point sweep.

Addison Schmeltzer and Nicole Doering had two hits each to power Merrill in Game 1.

In Game 2, Stevens Point scored three runs in the first, five in the fourth and three in the fifth to seal the win.

O’Neal and Emma Raikowski each had two hits for the Panthers.

Sophie Wendorf, Laney Zuelsdorff and Doering had two hits each to lead Merrill.

Wisconsin Rapids 13-12, Wausau East 3-2

WISCONSIN RAPIDS - The Red Raiders banged out 25 hits in the two games to earn the Wisconsin Valley Conference sweep over the Lumberjacks.

In the opener, Wisconsin Rapids was paced by Hayley Wagner, who was 3-for-3 with a double, triple and three RBI, while Meghan Jochimsen, Sawyer Holberg and Jazzlyn Redcloud had two hits each.

Wausau East was led by Claire Coushman, who tripled and drove in a pair of runs.

In the nightcap, Wagner pounded out three hits, including a double and a home run while driving in four runs. Also getting two hits each were Jochimsen and Redcloud.

Baley Berndt had two hits for East.

D.C. Everest 14, Wausau West 7

SCHOFIELD - The Evergreens pounded out 18 hits in the win over the Warriors, who had 10 hits.

Addison Kluck got the win for D.C. Everest.

Allison Kirsch took the loss for Wausau West.

Claire Healy had three hits for the Warriors.

Auburndale 12, Stratford 2

AUBURNDALE - The Eagles scored four runs in the first inning and five in the second inning and cruised to the win over the Tigers.

Samatha Stratton had a two-run home run for Auburndale, as did Ashlyn Grimm. Kimmie Lundgren had two hits.

Grimm pitched five innings and got the win in the circle.

Ally Zuleger had two hits for Stratford and was charged with the loss. Kalyn Schueller had a double.

Edgar 8, Newman Catholic 3

EDGAR - The Wildcats used a five-run third inning to pull away from the Cardinals.

Mikayla Wirkus and Morgan Streveler both had two hits, while Reagan Borchardt homered for Edgar.

Kaitlin Kalafice homered for Newman Catholic.

Almond-Bancroft 9, Weyauwega-Fremont 3

ALMOND - Jillian Newby was 3-for-3 with four RBI to help lead the Eagles to the win.

Messina Meddaugh and Olivia Baumgartner added two hits each for Almond-Bancroft.

Riley Stiles picked up the win, going seven innings and allowing five hits, five walks and striking out 13.

Kelsie Bleck led the Weyauwega-Fremont offense, going 3-for-4, and took the loss, pitching four innings and allowing six hits and seven walks, while striking out three.

Mosinee 8, Tomahawk 2

MOSINEE - Mosinee used a pair of big innings to pull out the Great Northern Conference victory.

Mosinee scored three runs in the first, four in the third and once in the fifth.

Five players had two hits or more for Mosinee, including Mikah Keller, Adeline Strejc, Hailey Schnowske, Maria Valls Raya and Maggie Woller. Strejc led the way with two RBI.

Scout Stromberg and Maddie Marino had three hits each and Bella Marino two to power the Hatchets.

Phillips 2, Athens 0

PHILLIPS - The Loggers scored single runs in the fifth and sixth innings to defeat the Bluejays, who were limited to three hits.

Kendall Weik got the win for Phillips, blanking Athens while striking out 17.

Siarra Hart took the loss for Athens, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out four.

BASEBALL

Amherst 11, Iola-Scandinavia 3

AMHERST - Ben Lee was 3-for-3 with a home run, a double and five RBI to lead the Falcons past the Thunderbirds.

Jake Hoffman also went 3-for-3, including two doubles, and stole two bases for Amherst, which improved to 13-0 overall and 7-0 in the conference.

Tyler Soulsby pitched six innings and allowed two earned runs for the win. He allowed five hits and struck out five.

Parker Gullixon had two RBI for Iola-Scandinavia.

Stevens Point 8, Wausau West 1

STEVENS POINT - The Panthers scored five runs in the second, one in the fourth and two in the fifth to record the Wisconsin Valley Conference victory.

Bennett Klish led SPASH, going 2-for-3 with a double and four RBI, while Kale Roth was 2-for-2 with three RBI and Deacon Koback was 2-for-3.

Kaden Thauer got the win on the mound, going six innings and allowing just three hits and striking out seven.

“Kaden Thauer was really impressive on the mound,” Panthers coach Kraig Terpstra said. “He really kept them off-balance. Bennett Klish had an amazing game at the plate with four RBI and four impressive plays in the outfield.”

Stevens Point is 7-1 overall and 3-0 in the conference.

Mosinee 7, Shawano 3

MOSINEE - Mosinee’s Trevor Garski pitched a complete game, allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits and one error in the win over the Hawks.

Keagen Jirschele had two hits, including a triple, for Mosinee. Tanner Unertl had two hits with a double. Drake Grod and Garski both drove in two runs.

Michael Metcalf started and took the loss for Shawano.

Stratford 2, Auburndale 0

AUBURNDALE - The Tigers’ Brady Schmidt and Camden Daul combined to pitch a three-hitter in the win over the Eagles.

Schmidt pitched the first six innings, allowed three hits and struck out six. Daul pitched the seventh and allowed one walk while striking out two.

Jack Tubbs and Jackson Ormand both had two hits for Stratford.

Blake Raab took the loss for Auburndale, allowing two runs on one walk and seven hits. He struck out three.

Athens 16, Phillips 12

PHILLIPS - The Bluejays scored in all but one inning, piled up 13 hits and took advantage of nine errors to defeat the Loggers.

Kody Lepak and Hunter Haehlke both had three hits for Athens. Brooks Kraus, Kyler Ellenbecker and Connor Sheahan each had two hits, with Ellenbecker driving in four runs.

Cooper Diedrich got the win for Athens.

Drew Hauschild took the loss for Phillips.

Rib Lake 15, Abbotsford/Colby 11

ABBOTSFORD - Rib Lake outslugged Abbotsford/Colby, scoring five times in the first, twice in the fourth, three in the fifth and five in the seventh.

J.V. Castillo, Mateo Lopez and Jaxon Polivka had two hits each for the Falcons, with Castillo and Blake Bargender driving in two runs apiece.

Pittsville 16, Almond-Bancroft 0

PITTSVILLE - The Panthers scored eight runs in both the first and second innings en route to the five-inning Central Wisconsin Conference win.

Noah Grimm had the hot bat for Pittsville, going 4-for-5 with two doubles and four RBI, while Evan Haley and Brad Neve added three hits and two RBI each. Both of Neve’s hits were doubles.

Waylon Grimm was 2-for-2 with a homer and three RBI for the Panthers.

Logan Zickert picked up the win on the mound, going four innings, allowing one hit and one walk, while striking out six.
