Here are Tuesday's high school sports results for the Wausau and Stevens Point area

BASEBALL

Stevens Point 6, Merrill 0

STEVENS POINT - The Panthers scored once in the first, four times in the second and once in the fifth to earn the Wisconsin Valley Conference win.

Josh Opiola picked up the win, pitching 6 1/3 innings, allowing one hit and striking out two.

“Josh was really impressive,” SPASH coach Kraig Terpstra said. “They struggled all game to make solid contact off him.”

Bennett Klish was 3-for-4 with a double, while Jackson Fox, Deacon Koback and Kaleb Mayer added two hits each.

The Panthers are 4-1 overall and 2-1 in the conference.

Mosinee 4, Marshfield 0

MARSHFIELD - Keagen Jirschele pitched a complete game to lead Mosinee to the win over the Tigers.

Jirschele allowed three hits and two walks while striking out seven.

Gavin Obremski had a double and two RBIs for Mosinee, which took a 3-0 lead in the third inning.

Davin Stoffel drove in Mosinee’s other two runs.

Braxton Kurth took the loss for Marshfield.

Abbotsford/Colby 11-11, Prentice 0-0

ABBOTSFORD - Evan Reis and Nano Lopez combined to allow just two hits in the opener, while Lopez and Payton Schreiber shut down the Buccaneers on three hits with eight strikeouts in the nightcap to post the Marawood Conference-North doubleheader sweep.

In Game 1, Reis tripled and drove in three runs, while Blake Bargender and Schreiber were 2-for-3 with an RBI.

JV Castillo was 3-for-4 with an RBI, and Carlos Lara and Reis added triples in the nightcap.

Pittsville 2, Rosholt 0

ROSHOLT - Dawson Luther was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI to lead the Panthers past the Hornets in Central Wisconsin Conference-South action.

Evan Haley tossed a three-hitter for Pittsville, pitching all seven innings, allowing one walk while striking out nine.

SOFTBALL

Auburndale 10, Newman Catholic 0

AUBURNDALE - Samantha Stanton pitched a no-hitter and faced the minimum with three strikeouts for the Eagles. An error in the seventh allowed Newman Catholic’s only baserunner, which was erased with a double play to end the game.

Auburndale collected 11 hits as a team and scored two runs in the first, seven in the second and one in the third.

The Eagles had four hitters bat 2-for-3 at the plate - Samantha Stanton, Ashlyn Grimm, Danika Blomberg and Taylor Anderson. Stanton had an RBI single in the first and a two-run double in the second. Grimm doubled, scored twice and had a two-run single in the second. Blomberg had a double, and Anderson also smacked an RBI double in the second. Mya Krings tripled and had three runs scored.

Ashley Jankowski took the loss for Newman, giving up 11 hits, three walks and 10 runs while striking out two.

Auburndale improves its record to 7-2 overall and 3-2 in the conference.

Athens 10, Mellen 3

ATHENS - The Bluejays overcame an early two-run deficit, scoring once in the first, twice in the second and third, once in the fourth and four in the fifth to earn the nonconference victory.

Mellen scored its final run in the top of the fifth.

Addison Lavicka, Sophia Coker, Sydney Coker, Abby Diethelm and Paige Westaby all had two hits for Athens.

Danica Diethelm earned the win in the circle, pitching six innings while allowing three hits, three earned runs and six walks, while striking out 10.

In the girls meet, Colby’s first-place finishers were the 3.200-meter relay team (11:21.87), Hayden Willner (100 hurdles, :16.75; 300 hurdles, :49.45), MaKenna Herrmann (1,600, 6:09.70) and Pearl Feiten (800, 2:50.49).

Abbotsford got first-place finishes from Sydney Falteisek (100, :13.61) and Azul Diaz (3,200, 13:35.42).

Mosinee took first in the 800 relay (1:52.57) and the 200 (Britt Fitzgerald, :27.29).

Mel Severson took first for Newman Catholic in the 400-meter dash. Newman Catholic won the 1,600 relay with a time of 4:40.33.

In the boys meet, Newman Catholic won the meet with first-place finishes in the 110 hurdles (Ben Hardesty, :16.66), the 400 (Nolyn Lindner, :53.54), the 300 hurdles (Ben Hardesty, :43.90) and the 3,200 (Gavin Hynes, 12:01.55).

Colby’s Caden Healy took first in the 100 (:11.49) and the 200 (:24.45).

Spencer took first in the 1,600 relay (3:57.13), the 400 relay (:47.77) and the 800 relay (1:37.89).

Wood County Invitational

In the girls meet, Marshfield’s winners included Casey Dasler (pole vault, 9-0), Emma Ridgway (high jump, 4-10), Ayana Bousum (long jump, 15-0), Ashley Grancorvitz (triple jump, 32-1.75; 100 hurdles, :17.99), Aubri Brown (discus, 113-4; shot put, 36-7.75), the 3,200 relay team (10:49.41), the 800 relay (1:48.76), the 400 relay (:53.47), Michaela Dick (300 hurdles, :46.34) and the 1,600 relay team (4:30.87).

Ava Etheridge of Wisconsin Rapids won the 100 (:12.88),

Pittsville’s Reese Grimm won the 1,600 (5:37.56), the 800 (2:35.30) and 400 (1:01.89).

Assumption’s Bella Thomas won the 200 (:27.23). Amber Schoenick won the 3,200 (11:38.47).

In the boys meet, Marshfield got first-place finishes from Vaughn Kolbeck (pole vault, 12-0), Trevor Foemmel (110 hurdles, :16.04; 300 hurdles, :42.01), the 800 relay (1:35.30) and the 1,600 relay team (3:56.52).

For Auburndale, Mason White Eagle won the high jump (5-8),

Nekoosa’s Aiden Neduzak won the long jump (19-11) and triple jump (39-4.5),

Wisconsin Rapids’ first-place finishes came from Connor Akey (discus, 146-9), Aidon Ferk (shot put, 43-11.75), Ashton Fischer (100, :11.51; 200, :23.26) and the 400 relay (:46.44).

Pittsville won the 3,200 relay (9:06.76) as well as the 400 (Jack Redmond, :53.29).

Columbus Catholic’s Isaac Scheer took first in the 1,600 (4:40.27) and the 3,200 (10:13.00) while Cal Birkhauser won the 800 (2:08.74).

GIRLS SOCCER

Assumption 8, Arcadia/Independence 0

WISCONSIN RAPIDS - Kendall Duellman scored three goals and added three assists to help power the Royals to the Mid-Western Wisconsin Conference victory.

Sarah Shaw also scored a goal and added an assist.

Other Royals who scored goals were Aislinn Dolan, Addi Vollert, Haley Hintz and Maddie Grauman.

Mosinee 6, Antigo 0

MOSINEE - Gabby Munoz scored four goals and had an assist to lead Mosinee to the win over the Red Robins.

Kaitlyn Selle added two goals for Mosinee (1-3).

Stevens Point 6, Merrill 0

MERRILL - The Panthers took a 2-0 lead at halftime and went on to record the victory over the Bluejays.

Stevens Point improved its record to 3-2-1 with the win.
